A special open-air concert featuring the award-winning Kew Wind Orchestra performing popular classics amidst the twilight beauty of St George’s Square Gardens. Special guests include City Academy Choir, plus the vocal talent of DreamArts performing excerpts from CATS. The streets of SW1 transform into a spectacular carnival with processions from local groups. The theme is Kings and Queens. Check out the map to find the best spot to watch the parade, which includes vintage cars costumed characters, and a Samba band, all ending at St George’s Square Gardens.

Enjoy free activities, kids’ fairground rides, a Helter Skelter, food, top talent across two stages, exciting activities with Westminster Adult Education Service including makeovers, face painting, wine tasting and family learning, a DJ tent, and festivities for all ages. Check out the Peadboy Wellbeing Wagon for a free health MOT and gardening tips and join Peabody and London Wildlife Trust in a Yurt to find out about the Cockney Sparrow. Plus find out about all the local groups and services in your area from over 40 stalls.

Pimlico Academy and Schools Plus will also be opening its doors for football with Chelsea FC, a car boot sale, table tennis, or you can try out the climbing wall with St Andrew’s Youth Club.

Enter the Festival Fancy Dress Competition. The theme is Kings and Queens, and there are prizes for the best home-made costume, including tickets for your family to see the hit musical WICKED, and vouchers to Lupus Street fancy dress shop, Pantaloons. The winning costume and runners up will have their costumes displayed at SW1 Gallery as part of the SouthWestFest exhibition. Register at the Festival HQ Tent in St George’s Square Gardens by 12:45pm.

The cruise includes commentary from local black cabbie and tour guide Carl who will give you a whole new perspective to many of London’s famous historic landmarks.

Talent of all ages will be displaying their creativity, including costumes from the Carnival Parade, and contributions from the following projects:

The City of Westminster Archives Centre presents the People’s Record Project - Westminster to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics, involving art projects, intergeneration events and memories of the London 1948 Olympic Games.

Tate Local and Vital Regeneration present Collection – Connection Project. Group photos from the local area have inspired young people to create new digital artwork with artist/film maker Verity-Jane Keefe, exploring belonging and relationships.

The sessions are free to local older residents and you find our about our free arts classses either in Pimlico or Covent Garden. Our friendly sessions introduce you to a range of different art forms. Try painting, scuplture and still life drawing.

The acclaimed Hampstead Players present Shakespeare’s A Winters Tale. The play fuses deep romance with comedy and psychological drama, taking the audience on a journey of love, lust, betrayal and forgiveness.

Some seating is available on a first-come-first-served basis. In wet weather, the performance will take place in St Saviour’s Church.
